The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program at 新澳门六合彩投注 recently competed in the virtual Midwest Model European Union competition and finished second overall for best delegation.

The four students that represented the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program included Jaylene Kennedy, Angelo Ybarra, Lorenzo Gari and Michael Berg. These students competed alongside three students from Florida International University and represented Malta. Student participation is supported by the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence grant from the European Union.聽

"This is the fifth year that Dr. Markus Thiel and I have trained a joint 新澳门六合彩投注/FIU delegation to participate in the Midwest Model European Union,鈥 said Aimee Arias, Ph.D., associate dean of research and creative achievement and associate professor of political science. 鈥淚t has been a very rewarding experience to watch students from both universities come together to form a cohesive team, learn so much about the European Union and diplomacy and have an amazing undergraduate experience."聽

The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, which trains students in world affairs, dispute resolution and debate, was established in 1996 and is a unit of the Peace, Justice & Human Rights Program.聽

In 2017, the program was named to honor the diplomatic legacy of Leon Charney, who played a key role in the 1978 Camp David Accords.聽
